Acid Roll Ups

A new month means a new backdrop. For just about everyone around the world, school is either in session or it begins this week. As a secondary school survivor, I can sympathise with those who were just like me, watching the minute hand on the clock move twice as slow as usual. I think today's outfit is perfect for those who don't wear uniform or are in sixth form because it's not too dull and doesn't break any major dress codes. If you do wear uniform, you could always keep a super simple outfit like this in mind for a non-uniform day, my school had quite a few. I'm absolutely crazy about this grey jumper I bought from TK Maxx. Not only was it one-of-a-kind in the store at the time, I bought it for £4.99. Even the cashier pointed out how brilliant the price was. When buying the jumper, I never realised how handy it would really be. The school I went to was a really fancy building (it was new), and had intelligent heating inside which wasn't always your best friend. The entire school was run by a computer-thing that controlled every digital aspect in the building, the computer just happened to struggle with the temperature. "Intelligent heating" just meant the building would turn on heaters if it was a little chilly outside, or air conditioning if it was cold. Some things were just meant to be run by humans. This jumper was perfect for the ever-changing climate at school because the elements of wool in the fibre keep me incredibly warm and cosy, but the jumper is a loose knit and relatively thin so I never over-heated. And as it's quite thin, I found it really easy to layer over.
My jeans were also a favourite for school because they make an outfit seem more exciting by the brighter colour and acid wash effect. Even though the effect is quite subtle, they brighten up my look. I decided to turn my jeans into roll-ups as I'm wearing hi-top Converse (another school essential) and they divide up my ensemble.

Disco Denim

I think I've found yet another outfit piece that has the potential to be so over-worn by me I end up wearing it nearly every day. This is a little annoying habit of mine, when I find something I like, it's almost like I become emotionally attached to this item of clothes and I can't help but wear it as much as possible. My denim shirt was bought in the Next sale and I'm absolutely crazy about it, simple because it's so versatile and I can wear it in so many ways! Perfect. The first thing I liked about the shirt is the two different tones of denim, which gives it a unique edge among the rest. The length also makes it incredibly versatile for so many different occasions. Today I'm wearing it as an oversized shirt, all buttoned up with my favourite disco leggings. However, this shirt can also be worn as a jacket, and a longer one as the denim is so thick - shielding you against the cold. With the sleeves rolled down, I've also worn this shirt as a dress with tights and heels booties to an evening meal. With a sophisticated jacket over the top, this shirt is easily dressed up as easy as it can be dressed down. I like that it's oversized, so it's really comfortable for me to wear all day long, and even for work as the dress code is very relaxed there. I can't wait to experiment with more looks!

maybe the best has yet to come

maybe the best has yet to come

I've noticed it's been a really long time since I've done a wishlist. I usually do these through Polyvore because it's like a portal to every item I've ever wanted - I absolutely love it. I think this set has a little bit of an 'artsy' vibe, it's definitely something I can see an Art or creative student wearing because it's so cool and casual. The Monki Asta singlet is something that's been in my 'liked' list on Polyvore for a while. The back of the top is what makes it unique and stand out because I think it's quite daring, but perfect for the last few weeks of summer left. Similarly, the boyfriend jeans from H&M are ideal for August. The weather during this time can really go either way, and a little breeze makes all the difference so I've added these jeans to this wishlist because they're really cool to wear in the sun, and warm enough when the clouds take over. I've wanted some All Star Low Converse for a while now so they had to be included in today's post. Although I haven't yet decided on the colour, I like the maroon pair. No shoe is more iconic than the Chuck Taylor All star and they're always a summer essential. I've noticed a lot of bloggers and YouTubers using the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera as well as seeing them all over Instagram. I live in quite a scenic area of Yorkshire, and this camera would be absolutely perfect for capturing some amazing landscapes throughout the year. I do actually have a Polaroid camera I found in the 'junk box' which is really useful but incredibly heavy! The Eastsport mesh backpack is an item I saw in another set on Polyvore and was immediately drawn to. The mesh fabric used for the body of the bag is nothing I've ever seen before and it's such a great price! It's very simple like the ASOS rings but the few features differ it from the rest to make a street style look.

Humongous Handbags

19 August 2014

I have recently really fallen for oversized bags. Oversized anything is what I will usually go for, other than jeans. I love huge jumpers and long tops as well as large statement accessories and jewellery. Today I'm carrying quite a large bag that I bought from TK Maxx. There are many things I love about TK Maxx, finding designer clothing for reasonable prices is always exciting, but I really like the fact that you often find one off pieces in there. Sometimes they're just in that one store, but it's rare I'll find a lot of items twice in a fortnight. My large bag was bought for my last year of school, which I finally finished in June, and was sitting there, all alone on a rack. I couldn't resist, I had to buy it because it's black and leather - perfect for school. My huge bag also has divided sections and plenty of pockets inside which is always a bonus for me. I like simple colours for handbags as they're not often a statement piece in my outfits. I really like the ribbed effect down the middle of the bag as well as the gigantic studs near the handles. Oversized bags have become essential for me as I now work full time and I have to carry a lot of folders along with my typical handbag essentials. On the other hand, I've noticed really large bags are great for shopping days because I can just throw things in rather than struggling to carry everything. I often find myself trying to look for a place to put a tiny carrier bag from Claire's somewhere and I've even lost them because I have no where to put them! I've found humongous handbags to be a new favourite of mine, what do you think?

Mini Midriff

18 August 2014

Eldwick, Bingley, Bingley, West Yorkshire BD16, UK
When I wear cropped tops, I often buy them long enough to cover my tummy, or wear high waisted jeans that go past my belly button. However, today I'm feeling daring, and exposing a tiny bit of my 'midriff'. Usually this is something I would not be uncomfortable with, and I think pulling off this look is all down to confidence and how you feel applying this trend. I think it's an absolutely perfect look for anyone that isn't keep on wearing shorter dresses or short-sleeved tops because your lower chest and tummy can be show off in a really subtle way without going outside your comfort zone. I have quite a pear body shape, so I've really grown to love cropped tops and high waisted clothing because they disguise the bits I don't like and highlight or show off the bits I do like. I've also found, in effect, it can make you look a little bit slimmer, when you show off your favorite body parts. This denim shirt I chose to wear over the top is a new favorite of mine because it's really light denim, and not as thick as a jacket so it's not overbearing. I've found that the thinner denim shirts are perfect for autumn because they're so easy to use in a layered outfit, and the basic shades can be paired with plenty of different colours as well as patterns to create a unique look.
