Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Lazy, do-nothing days are the best kind of days. Today I have quite a relaxed day, only running little errands but mainly writing articles and catching up on TV. I have grown to love simple outfits like this because they're so practical and easy to put together. If I need to accessorize with this look, I always can because each piece is very simple and straightforward. I chose a pair of basic blue jeans, going back to basics. Over that, I'm wearing a totally plain white t-shirt by Nike with a wool cardigan. The cardigan actually has a little shimmer to it as it has glimmer sewn in with the wool which I think adds a little sparkle, litterally. The black and white hi-top Converse are about as casual as you can get, they really flaunt a laid back look and add that tone to my outfit.

Handbags And Gladrags

22 November 2014

As I young girl I used to be obsessed with handbags. It's all I was know for during my first few years of secondary school. During one year, I had a different school bag ever week and the collection continued to grow. Style-wise, this wasn't my brightest period, my idea of classy or glamour was anything with a metallic tint or a well-known brand stamped on the side. I even remember carrying a bag made by Apple Bottom because the song Low by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain was incredibly popular at the time. 2007-2009 are years I can only look back on to laugh, cringe-worthy is an understatement. However, since that time, I have always adored a good handbag no matter what the size. I recently bought this Fiorelli tote from TK Maxx, where Fiorelli bags are very popular. This is my first Fiorelli bag, and so far I can't stop carrying it. The faux leather is very high quality which gives the bag really good structure and makes it easier to carry and keep organised. The splash of blue, which is in the same place on both sides adds colour to my winter wardrobe which seems to consist of a lot of greys and blacks. This is definitely my favourite purchase of the month!

Mad Motivation

5 November 2014

It's strange how motivation to do certain things comes out of nowhere. After a blogger chat on Twitter last night, I suddently became motivated to write a load of blog posts and articles due to being inspired by other bloggers. As I pointed out in my tweets, the one aspect I'm drawn to in the blogging industry is the sense of community and respect each blogger has for one another. It doesn't matter how long you've been blogging or how many followers you have - it seems that everyone is supportive and excited to meet each other. That's from my experience so far anyway. I have only been blogging for under a year, so I'm no expert and I know I have much to learn, but I'm enjoying the journey. I get inspired very easily, whether it's from other people or simply my surroundings, and usually, inspiration brings motivation and determination to improve.
You may notice I'm not posting as much this week, and that's due to a little winter bug I'm currently fighting through. I had my flu jab on Monday (which does hurt despite what they tell you) so at least I know I'm protected for this season. Today's look is quite colour coordinated which is very common in my personal style. As much as I like a colour clash, having an outfit that matches just makes me smile. My beanie hat is a new favourite of mine, the collection is slowly growing. As I'm not too well, I chose a wool hat to keep my head warm which is important. Although I'll be staying inside most of the day, I do like to get dressed rather than lounge around my pyjamas - that only encourages me to stay in bed! The beanie is blue, red and white and I think ties the navy/white theme together.

Hello, November.

This time of year is my favourite time of year. Most people are more focused on how it's getting darker so quickly but that's just a good sign that winter is on it's way! Halloween is great and all, but I really love November and December. Even though I'm a spring baby, I prefer the complete opposite side of the year. In school, I was the one kid that would always point out that it's snowing outside due to sheer excitement. Snow means more hot chocolate which is all good for me. This end of the year also brings sweaters, blankets and books, super cosy socks and plenty of candles. Over the year my collection of candles has frown which means I'm stocked up for the winter. The weather is not too hot but not frost bite cold which brings layering and autumn nail colours. I love to watch fireworks and November 5th marks bonfire night so I just can't wait! Today's outfit is a perfect example of what I would wear to a bonfire. The weather is  usually quite cold but the heat from the fire makes up for it, however I still think jeans are the best choice. My hat which is yet another beanie this week, suits the month well as the colours are great for this season. The wool knit has become a genuine favourite of mine as they keep me warm and cosy especially when the chillier winds are blowing.
What's your favourite thing about this time of year?

Jimi Hendrix 68

There's nothing like a bright blue jeans to brighten up an outfit a little bit. Within my look, my jeans are one item that stands out the most, despite their simplicity and basic design. But I think jeans and denim as a whole are sometimes forgotten about, but in reality, they're incredibly valuable. As a girl that's almost six feet tall, it's really difficult to find jeans at the right length of a good quality. As as a curvier girl, it's a lot harder to find jeans that fit in all the right places. I naturally gravitate towards super skinny jeans because I know they will fit, but I still have to wear a belt. Today's jeans, which are from Next are so soft they're almost like leggings. Topshop and Next are my go-to high street stores for any style of jeans because the denim is of a high quality and the fit is generous and true to size. Along with my blue jeans, I'm wearing my favourite vest top from Topshop that I've had for at least three years. The graphic print is of Jimi Hendrix, as it's a poster for a San Francisco show in 1968. I've found this shirt to be valuable over the years because it never really dates. The monochrome print is suited to any casual style and pairs with plenty of items in my wardrobe.
