My sunglasses are my newest summer favourite because they can be paired with anything. I have quite a round face, so I usually go for the oversized black sunglasses, but I decided to make a change and wear these mirror aviators that I absolutely adore. Not only is it extremely entertaining watching people check out their reflection in my glasses or try to figure out if they can see my eyes, these glasses are also super light on the inside so they don't effect my vision in anyway. They also don't have a weird colour tint on the inside so the sky still remains blue!

Classroom Crazes

At the beginning of this year the athletic trend stole the show with old-school attitude. There were brighter colours, plimsolls and even go-faster stripes all over the catwalk. Before all this became a huge 2014, sportswear was the hit trend in 2009 at school. I would have been in year 9, and if you didn't have one item on clothing from Adidas or the latest sports label - you weren't "in the crowd" as it were. Usually, the brighter the better. I am lucky enough the have finished secondary school and escape the trauma of trying to keep up with in-school trends but I found this jacket in the back of wardrobe and had to write a post on it. Some items of clothing just hold very specific memories and this jacket happens to be one of them. Just about everyone had one of these jackets, it begin with the older kids, and then it spread to the lower school. I remember looking online and actually finding them sold out, and I'm still convinced it's due to most of the kids in Bradford buying them. This was around the time Adidas Originals was re-branded and enforced among the younger generation - every item of theirs had stripes on it, and everyone wanted something. There were a range of shoes too, but my pocket money at the time didn't stretch that far. After Adidas realised how popular these jackets became, as the trend spread rapidly, they eventually released an all new line of Adidas Originals jackets, in different colours and unique patterns.
The trend literally took over, and it never looked that great either. This was also around the time everyone had a Gola bag and it became a competition to own the quirkiest style. Did your school every have any huge must-have trends?

It really is strange how a few nice comments can change the worst day into the very best. Everything could be going wrong, you may have just run out of luck; but as soon as someone says a compliment it cheers you up a little bit and makes all the problems seem a little smaller. Well, that's how I feel. I hit 100 followers yesterday through Google Friend Connect, which for me is a huge thing because I never thought this tiny blog would get one comment forget a single follower. I have to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to click follow, read my posts and publish lovely comments too. It means so much, it's unexplainable.
As mentioned in Bright Colour, Bright Mood, I like to brighten up my outfits, especially when I'm in a good mood. Still sticking with this week's obsession of wearing a ton of blue, I often find the best way to make an outfit is with a bright pop of colour or colour blocking, rather than just throwing pattern and all sorts everywhere. Today I wanted most of the focus of my outfit to be on my coat, so I'm wearing charcoal jeans, black shoes and carrying a black bag so most of the attention is going to my top half.

My top is a 3/4 length shirt/jumper I bought from Next a really long time ago, and is really Just One of Those Tops I can't get rid of, ever. But it does have hints of dark blue in, so I paired it with my bright blue coat that's one of my favourites because I can wear it anywhere and style it to any occasion that comes my way. It looks great with dark colours because of the huge contrast and is always my go-to coat to pair with an LBD.

Pragmatic Prices

I am a huge believer in being honest and presenting yourself as you really are, rather than showcasing a false personality. I like the phrase "I'm not negative, I'm just realistic" because for me, it's more than true. Sometimes I just can't help but be honest, say things as they are and see the rational side to a situation. I'm not the type of blogger than has thousands to spend on hauls and styles that I can wear each and every day. I see nothing wrong with recycling what you've got and experimenting with what's there rather than becoming distressed by trying to reach the unrealistic goals that are sometimes set in society. I love high fashion, I adore expensive things and I believe I have aspects of my personality that are identical to Holly Golightly in my obsession with how 'the other half' live. But I also love a bargain (real Yorkshire talk), and I am the type of person that looks at price tags; unfortunately I don't have the privilege of being able to ignore how many zeros I see on a label.
That's the inspiration or motivation behind today's post and outfit. I've recently learnt that charity shops are like little treasure chests, along with stores like TK Maxx and even supermarkets. Yes, that particular way of shopping may not be as glorified as spending £60.00 on a t-shirt, but if you look good and feel good, I don't see it causing any harm. Some people may see shopping on a budget as a downfall or a disadvantage, but I see it as an open window into a whole other world of unique and one-off pieces to add to a slowly growing collection.
Mini-rant over. Today I'm wearing an oversized check shirt that is super cosy as it's made of cotton and I actually found in a sale. Most people like to wear check shirts around their waist, which is a trend I like, but when wearing them myself, I like to actually wear them as an open or closed shirt. They're also great in the summer as the oversized style keeps you cool all day without having to strip off. I chose to leave the top few buttons open which creates much more of a relaxed look, whereas when all the buttons are fasted, the shirt takes a straighter shape and looks a little more formal.

Smart Charcoal

One of the reasons I love darker colours like charcoal is because it's so simple and easy to style. From day to night, or formal and casual. I know it's the middle of summer, and usually people like to wear brighter clothes and styles but I don't see anything wrong with wearing darker colours every so often. Today's quite a gloomy day so I guess you could say I'm dressing for the weather.
Recently, I've seen a lot of blazers being worn in general street style. I always thought of blazers as quite a formal piece of clothing, and always worn them to more sophisticated events. However, after seeing so many people pull them off so effortlessly I decided to wear of to finish of my entire look. A lot of blazers come in very bright colours, and I have found a few I like from Topshop and Urban Outfitters that are unique in size, shape and colour in contrast to my plain black one. Blazers have been a summer trend before, and I still think there's time for this look to become the late summer obsession.
