Hello, November.

This time of year is my favourite time of year. Most people are more focused on how it's getting darker so quickly but that's just a good sign that winter is on it's way! Halloween is great and all, but I really love November and December. Even though I'm a spring baby, I prefer the complete opposite side of the year. In school, I was the one kid that would always point out that it's snowing outside due to sheer excitement. Snow means more hot chocolate which is all good for me. This end of the year also brings sweaters, blankets and books, super cosy socks and plenty of candles. Over the year my collection of candles has frown which means I'm stocked up for the winter. The weather is not too hot but not frost bite cold which brings layering and autumn nail colours. I love to watch fireworks and November 5th marks bonfire night so I just can't wait! Today's outfit is a perfect example of what I would wear to a bonfire. The weather is  usually quite cold but the heat from the fire makes up for it, however I still think jeans are the best choice. My hat which is yet another beanie this week, suits the month well as the colours are great for this season. The wool knit has become a genuine favourite of mine as they keep me warm and cosy especially when the chillier winds are blowing.
What's your favourite thing about this time of year?

Sunny Sapphire

Bright blue has always been a go-to colour for me, most of you will have seen my almost luminous blue coat as I wear it quite often. I have always favoured this colour because I think it compliments my skin tone rather than clashes or washes it out. Colours like red and orange aren't great for me unless they're quite dark. Usually, the brighter the blue, the better and today my top half is shining sapphire. My jumper, which I have had for a while now is cotton, jersey and wool - ideal for this time of year. The fabric is really soft as it's quite a tight knit so I can brave the cold without a heavier coat. My jumper is a little shorter than the average length which I like as I can pair this top with either trousers or a skirt. My matching hat, which is from Next was my first ever beanie hat. I've always favourite this style of hat simply because they don't make my head look any bigger, unlike most hats do. The two bright colours on the top half contrast really well with my dark hair and skin, I feel a little bit like a human highlighter. As I wanted all the focus of my outfit to be on the top, I chose my favourite charcoal jeans, a matching denim rucksack and some faux leather hi-tops.
Do you have a go-to comfort colour?

The Townie

Today I'm heading into the town centre just so I can shop in one of my very favourite stores: TK Maxx. Although the Leeds store is bigger, I much prefer the Bradford store as it's not as chaotic. A few years ago I would never really go into TK Maxx because I was so focused on popular brand names rather than just shopping for the best of fashion, however, I have really learnt to appreciate this store. Not only do I love the one-of-a-kind piece I often find in there, I like that there's always big brands for the best prices. TK Maxx also sells books and furniture so I could even live in there. Of course there are plenty of department retail stores that I love, but TK is the closest one to where I live. As soon as I walk into the store, the first place I divert towards is the bags section, closely followed by the shoes section. Both my bag and jumper were bought in TK Maxx over the past year and I'm still obsessed with them. I've found that my cosy knit jumper really easily pairs with plenty of other items. For example, today I'm wearing my favourite super skinny jeans from Topshop. The deep navy colour contrasts well with the light grey colour of my jumper to create a totally casual look.

Wake Me Up When September Ends

29 September 2014

Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK
I'm refusing to believe this month is almost over - it's impossible for time to move that quickly without me noticing. As much as I miss summer, autumn/winter is my favourite time of year. I own way too many jumpers and have a strong obsession with boots so I love the transition stage which is this time of year. As September ends, I'm bringing out my complete fall wardrobe and getting to know my favourites again. This jumper, which I bought in a Topshop winter sale last year, and I've loved it ever since. Chunky knit jumpers have become a favourite of mine because they're so cosy to wear but they're not overbearing and are usually lighter than fabrics that take more fabric as they're using a smaller knit. The looser knit also means I don't overheat and can wear this jumper with a leather jacket. The length of this jumper is also great because I can wear it with leggings without exposing too much. Today's leggings are a lot thicker than typical viscose and elastane as they have a spandex-type fabric in them which is what creates the shiney, 'disco' effect to them. I've grown to really love these leggings because they keep me super warm during this season as they're a little thicker and actually a lot softer. To finish the look I'm wearing my favourite Chelsea ankle boots and carrying a faux leather handbag.

Wondrously Woolly

Mondays can be a bit of a drag. For some absurd reason, they always seem to be the longest day of the week. The unexpected bright weather has cheered up the day slightly, but it's still the first working day of the week after a fun-filled weekend. At work, the dress code is very relaxed so I usually were quite casual looks. It's actually a great way for me to experiment with some of the less-worn outfits in my wardrobe - which I eventually learn to love. This black jumper was made for me a while ago, and I only ever really wore it to sixth form because I needed comfy clothes to wear for long periods of time. Once I finished school, this jumper went straight to the back of my wardrobe because I never felt the need to wear it anymore, but it turns out - I love this jumper! It's jet black, which is a colour I was supposed to be trying to avoid but sometimes I can't help it. The jumper, or sweater contains a teeny tiny bit of wool which keeps me extra warm at work. I usually have to be really careful with wool because it irritates my skin and becomes really itchy. But tiny traces don't usually effect me. My super cosy jumper also has a slightly ribbed effect in it which I think makes it unqiue in comparison to a lot of other woolly jumpers.
