Exploring in Floral

15 June 2017

Going for walks has got to be one of my favourite things to do. It’s a very basic activity, you don’t need much, but the benefits are always positive. Whenever I’m in a bad mood, not feeling well, or want to get some easy exercise in, I just go for a walk. Luckily for me, I live in quite the scenic area of Yorkshire, so a beautiful stroll is only two steps away.
What I wear on a walk depends on each day. Today, was a beautiful summer’s day so I wanted to be a little girly and threw on a floral dress from Next. Florals have been my favourite pattern since being a child. The print can come in basically any shape or size and can be worn to literally anything – which makes them awesome. Unfortunately, when I pulled up to my location, a rainstorm broke out (I knew this sudden heatwave was too good to be true) and the woods quickly filled with water. But the best thing about post-rain walks, is that everything looks SO. MUCH. GREENER. The trees and plants are even more alive!

Converse have become a big go-to shoe to me recently, and I feel like up until now, I was really taking them for granted. I’ve had this classic pair since school, and they’re still in top condition (minus the mud). I love how they add a casual twist to this look paired with a denim jacket. Converse all the way! Summer Nights

Who say's you can't brighten the upcoming winter nights with a splash of colour? I think a lot of people reserve the darker colours in their wardrobe for the darker time of year, but I like colour so why not wear it? The bright blue and coral are two colours I just love to mix because I think they contrast so well. Blue is my 'comfort colour' so I often resort to wearing it quite frequently as I think it compliments my skin tone rather than clashes with it. Although the lighter and brighter colours are often associated with summer, the combination of colour is a favourite of mine so I couldn't resist. I chose black faux leather accessories as I wanted all the focus to be on my clothing. My bag is a perfect little purse to hold all my essentials; and also comes with a longer shoulder strap. My wedges are very basic is style but are so comfortable to wear and don't take away from my dress.

Cotton Crush

15 November 2014

I can't lie, I'm a sucker for discount prices. Seeing sale signs make me smile almost as much as free food. I didn't grow up in an extremely privileged family, so I've learnt many tips and tricks over my 18 years. With a mother as a fashion designer, I've also learnt to appreciate good material when I find it. My dress is made of cotton lawn, which is an incredibly find cloth that feels very silky on the skin. Although this dress is ideal for the summer as it keep you cool, I also love to wear it during this time of year to brighten up my closet. The fabric is untextured, and reasonably thin, so the aztec-like pattern adds a little excitement to the overall look rather than just a blend of colour. The winter season is setting in, so it's only natural that I begin to gravitate towards boots, and grey boots at that. These faux leather boots are amazing as they're loose-fitting toward the top, meaning I can wear thick socks inside without them being seen. For my outfit of the day, I purposely chose all-grey items, including my cardigan as I wanted the dress to remain the centre of my outfit as it's bursting with colour.

Sundays mean days at home which mean online shopping which results in a wishlist. United Bamboo Striped Baggy Dress is at the centre of my wishlist and at the very top. I have recently loved this style of dress, especially for this season. I think the jumper-dress style is a lot cosier and can be paired with long socks or tights and still look cool and casual. This dress in particular would also look lovely with a leather jacket. I chose the Ribbed Infinity Scarf to go over this dress because the colour looks super cosy as well as the fabric containing cotton which is a must for this year. I love the white and silver them throughout this wishlist, and the Marc Jacobs Beauty Tonite Lights Glitter Dust slots in perfectly. The long-wearing metallic eyeshadow is dust-like which means it applies really well with a weightless but sparkly finish. Another beauty item, also available at Sephora is the Dior Fusion Mono Eyeshadow which would be used to highlight the eyes along with the glitter dust. The shadow does come in many different colours, but I think the shimmering black will contrast well with the glittery finish. This product is actually an Allure Best of Beauty winner, and has a mousse-gel texture which creates an easy application. The very final beauty item today, is the Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl by Marc Jacobs. It's champagne-infused with a very gentle plumping formula and is available in a few different colours. For this wishlist, I chose the clear colour as I think it suits the style of the set better. The colours from the eyeshadows and the Soft Touch Shadow Pencil by Nars create a subtle shimmer throughout the eyes which is enough rather than a really bold lip.

Charcoal Chapter

Yet another dark outfit. Sometimes I don't even realise I've forgotten to add a touch of colour but it's beyond my control. Today's look is a little different to what I usually wear on a day-to-day basis but it's definitely going to be a favourite in the chillier seasons. My dress, which is made of jersey is absolutely perfect for the weather. I'm more of a dress person, but with the sudden windy climate, it's difficult to wear my favourite skater style. When this straight cut dress was made for me, I was reluctant to try it as it's a little figure hugging, but after a few wears - this may be my new favourite item. The dress can seem quite formal due to it's shape, so to style it down, I'm wearing my favourite faux leather jacket and combat biker boots which contrast really well with the dress. During autumn, I tend to gravitate towards darker clothes, so I think this long sleeved dress is perfect - and I can always add colour over the top or in the accessories.
