Style Crush: Kylie Jenner

15 July 2015

Not a lot of people love the Kardashians, I used to be one of those people. In no way am I some crazy superfan, but I can't deny one thing, Kylie Jenner has an amazing sense of style. At 17, her wardrobe is to die for. The rest of the family have a pretty nice wardrobe, but I have always been drawn to Kylie's in particular. She has always picked choices that compliment her body shape and personality, which gives her that extra kick of confidence. All you have to do is scroll through KJ's instafeed to find plenty of selfies and full outfit shots, she's well on her way to becoming a social media queen. One thing I really like about Kylie's sense of style is that she appreciates how stunning basic pieces look. Sure, the odd Balmain dress here and there looks fantastic, but some of my favourite Kylie looks are casual ones, and she could only be wearing two colours. She doesn't feel the need to dress like a circus tent to get attention which is exactly what I would describe as "wardrobe goals". There are plenty of Pinterest boards and Tumblr blogs dedicated to Kylie's style and ability to look absolutely fabulous on any random day of the week.

Style Crush: Olivia Palermo

3 July 2015

I always have a little style envy for anyone who lives in The Big Apple but Olivia is by far one of my favourites. It seems she's able to wear just about any colour or style and still make it look chic. She oozes self confidence and easily intimidates competition. I first saw Olivia on The City, a show featuring another one of my favourite fashionistas, Whitney Port. Olivia was the mean girl, the one everyone loved to hate, and soon made NYC her own. She's now married to Johannes Huebl (an incredibly handsome German model) and working hard to build up her brand and blog. Although Olivia's work ethic is also a great aspiration, her style in particular always catches me and she never fails to impress. Olivia is one of the only celebrities I look out for during the Fashion Week period as she continues to promote elegance and luxury through her personal style and the designers she chooses to wear. Although I highly doubt Olivia is as evil as The City made her seem, I still want her wardrobe.

Girl Crush: Sophia Amoruso

17 June 2015

There's nothing I love more than a real role model to aspire to. Reality stars and Hollywood wannabes seem to fill the spot too quick for some, but their success isn't very motivating. Although Miranda Priestly and Emily Charlton are two of my all-time favourite girly inspirations, I adore anyone with a real drive their career and in the fashion industry. Sophia Amoruso is the founder and owner of Nasty Gal, one of the most stylish and popular fashion stores among young women. How did Sophia reach this point? Well it all began with a little but no so little eBay store under the name of 'Nasty Gal Vintage', selling vintage designer pieces.
By 2008, Nasty Gal, (names after the 1975 album by Betty David) grew as a retail website and quickly sparked attention from social media and bloggers for it's new take on high street fashion. With a large audience, Nasty Gal also brought in a very large revenue.
For me, Sophia is particularly impressive as she always point out hard work is how she achieved her goals, there was no easy shortcut, it took dedication and time to make Nasty Gal the success it is today. Sophia handled everything in the early stages, including the buying, photography and product descriptions. Sadly, in January this year, Sophia announced she's stepping down as the CEO of Nasty Gal but it's still such a well established company, she deserves to be in my "Girl Crush" list. Today, Nasty Gal continues to grow into a mega-brand and fashion label icon. Sophia's best-selling book,  #GIRLBOSS is one of my all-time favourite non-fictions and is so inspiring. It motivated me to work so much harder on my blog, creating something I'm immensely proud of. Go Sophia!

Girl Crush: Angelina Jolie

10 March 2015

Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK
Angelina has been the girl crush of my life for a solid 14 years, Lara Croft and Mrs & Mrs Smith are both films I can't live without and have the luxury of sitting as DVDs on my majestic movie cabinet. Angie has become an idol of mine due to her free spirit but mature attitude. She is someone that's easy to relate to, grew up in the public eye and has experience so much as a woman. The way she carries and handles herself is to be admire as well as her phenomenal wardrobe choices. I may envy her husband and lifestyle, but one thing I would love to steal is Angelina's wonderful wardrobe.
Her style (as well as make-up) are constantly all over my Tumblr feed, and she's basically red carpet royalty. My favourite AJ looks are her award show dress which always manage to steal the spotlight. Similarly, Mrs Pitt's everyday look are so simple yet appear so stylish. All-black outfits are owned by Angelina.
Sometimes the most effective looks are the ones with much less going on. As the years have gone by, I have learnt (with the help of Angelina) that all-black outfits aren't all bad and extremely busy looks can just be too much. There's no shame in wearing an oversized black tee in the middle of August, but that doesn't mean you can't glam up in a bright green glittery ensemble for a dinner party. She annihilates just about every look she tried, and has a presence that's unique to her personality.

Style Crush: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

23 November 2014

Eldwick, Bingley, Bingley, West Yorkshire BD16, UK
RHW is no stranger to the spotlight. Not only did she make her catwalk debut alongside Naomi Campbell, she also has a successful lingerie collection with Marks & Spencer named Rosie for Autograph and managed to land a roll in the third Transformers film - one of my favourites. However, that's not what I admire most about Rosie, the one thing I always look to Rosie for is her style. Whether it's on the red carpet or her favourite coffee run attire, Rosie's style is always at it's best. She's often featured in my collection of images for the 'Celebrity Style' board on my Pinterest page. Rosie's unique look compliments her effortless style as she mixes luxurious designer garments with the very best of the high street. As a model, Rosie knows how to dress to suit her body shape and skin tone which always comes to an advantage. She favours Givenchy for their luxury leather totes and has a flawless casual wardrobe which makes every day seem like a red carpet moment!
