Jolly Jumper

25 March 2015

There are some items in my closet that I can never let go of, either because they have a sentimental touch or a significant memory I like to remember attached to them. With this jumper, it was the first item I bought on a shopping trip with my friends when I was only twelve. This may not seem like a very big deal, but when I was younger, shopping trips to the city centre were a huge thing, especially when there were no parents. It's a lot different now and tweens seem to be skipping the awkward pink jeans stage I went through. Surprisingly, this jumper still fits as I bought a large size all those years ago. It has stuck with me and stayed in great condition ever since. The sweater slowly became my favourite, and during the winter I would wear it just about everywhere.

Wintry Wonder

22 December 2014

Avoiding wearing all-black outfits is becoming a daily struggle. But I recently bought this light pink blouse from Next and absolutely love it. The long sleeved shirt has a really simple button-up design and a pocket on the left side. However, what I like most about this super smooth blouse is that it adds that 'pop of colour' to an outfit that would otherwise be quite dull. The colour blends really well is plenty in my wardrobe including the wintry shades. The top is also really easy to dress up or dress down due to it's style. I could pair it with a high-waisted skirt and heeled ankle boots for a more sophisticated and formal style. Today I chose a black leather jacket, and as the shirt is quite thin it's great for layering.

Handbags And Gladrags

22 November 2014

As I young girl I used to be obsessed with handbags. It's all I was know for during my first few years of secondary school. During one year, I had a different school bag ever week and the collection continued to grow. Style-wise, this wasn't my brightest period, my idea of classy or glamour was anything with a metallic tint or a well-known brand stamped on the side. I even remember carrying a bag made by Apple Bottom because the song Low by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain was incredibly popular at the time. 2007-2009 are years I can only look back on to laugh, cringe-worthy is an understatement. However, since that time, I have always adored a good handbag no matter what the size. I recently bought this Fiorelli tote from TK Maxx, where Fiorelli bags are very popular. This is my first Fiorelli bag, and so far I can't stop carrying it. The faux leather is very high quality which gives the bag really good structure and makes it easier to carry and keep organised. The splash of blue, which is in the same place on both sides adds colour to my winter wardrobe which seems to consist of a lot of greys and blacks. This is definitely my favourite purchase of the month!

Sunny Sapphire

28 October 2014

Bright blue has always been a go-to colour for me, most of you will have seen my almost luminous blue coat as I wear it quite often. I have always favoured this colour because I think it compliments my skin tone rather than clashes or washes it out. Colours like red and orange aren't great for me unless they're quite dark. Usually, the brighter the blue, the better and today my top half is shining sapphire. My jumper, which I have had for a while now is cotton, jersey and wool - ideal for this time of year. The fabric is really soft as it's quite a tight knit so I can brave the cold without a heavier coat. My jumper is a little shorter than the average length which I like as I can pair this top with either trousers or a skirt. My matching hat, which is from Next was my first ever beanie hat. I've always favourite this style of hat simply because they don't make my head look any bigger, unlike most hats do. The two bright colours on the top half contrast really well with my dark hair and skin, I feel a little bit like a human highlighter. As I wanted all the focus of my outfit to be on the top, I chose my favourite charcoal jeans, a matching denim rucksack and some faux leather hi-tops.
Do you have a go-to comfort colour?

The Townie

Today I'm heading into the town centre just so I can shop in one of my very favourite stores: TK Maxx. Although the Leeds store is bigger, I much prefer the Bradford store as it's not as chaotic. A few years ago I would never really go into TK Maxx because I was so focused on popular brand names rather than just shopping for the best of fashion, however, I have really learnt to appreciate this store. Not only do I love the one-of-a-kind piece I often find in there, I like that there's always big brands for the best prices. TK Maxx also sells books and furniture so I could even live in there. Of course there are plenty of department retail stores that I love, but TK is the closest one to where I live. As soon as I walk into the store, the first place I divert towards is the bags section, closely followed by the shoes section. Both my bag and jumper were bought in TK Maxx over the past year and I'm still obsessed with them. I've found that my cosy knit jumper really easily pairs with plenty of other items. For example, today I'm wearing my favourite super skinny jeans from Topshop. The deep navy colour contrasts well with the light grey colour of my jumper to create a totally casual look.
