I found myself in wonderland

My favourite thing about creating sets on Polyvore is that I get to discover new items to add to my wishlist, the list that is only ever getting longer.

My style has evolved massively over the past year and that's fairly evident from my Polyvore page and choice of outfits. From the beginning of Anika May, I believed the crazier the better, the most I had going on in one look equalled the best I was going to look. As I've grown up, that's changed quite a bit, and although I tend stick to a simpler palette, I still like to make a look interesting.

Not So Summer Wishlist

17 July 2015

you're gone and i gotta stay...
A lot of bloggers and writers are focusing on the best of a summer closet. As someone who isn't summer best friend, I'm excited for autumn fashion to kick in. Polyvore is the best place for me to make wishlists. It's like window shopping without having to move. I always point out my style would be much better if all clothing was free, but I'm happing making sets for today. This first item on this "Not So Summer" wishlist is this amazing sweater by Tory Burch. I initially came across this jumper after browsing Tory Burch's site looking out for a new pattern to splurge on. Although their lines are not always in my price range, I couldn't resist adding this piece to my wishlist. It's made of solid and foil-printed merino wool, a modern way to incorporate the AW15 trend of metallics into your look.
I absolutely adore the Watch by Uniform Wares from popbee.com. My usual style of accessory is quite shiny and glamorous, rose gold is one of my favourites, but I was drawn to this watch for it's unique but effective simple. The layout is so simple, and monochrome is yet another trend returning for the fall.
Finally, my number one wishlist items are the black skinny jeans by Saint Laurent. I found them on Vestiaire Collective along with a whole other collection. The slim fit jeans would fit in perfectly with my ever-growing winter wardrobe and pair well with so many items. They're one of the most popular types of jeans after growing fashionable among celebrities. It's not difficult to combine this piece with plenty of other items, and could easily become that must-have item this season.

My theory is that colour is for the brighter days and the better moods. This seems like more of an excuse, but I can't help to gravitate towards a monochrome look - it happens without me noticing. I'm a fan of contrasting colours because I think it's the easiest way to make a look appear put-together and effortless simultaneously. The R13 Nancy Striped Boy Tee is a perfect example. Stripes are such a simple pattern, but make this shirt seem more complex in contrast to a plain black or white tee. The Black High Waisted Jean Shorts compliment and bring out the black in the t-shirt, but to make this seem brighter, white shorts would work too. The distressed demin and studs expose the stylish design without going over the top.

A Wool Hat is essential for this season, even if shorts aren't. The 100% wool hat includes a subtle leather band for texture contrast. To finish the look, I included the Dioon Elastic Chelsea Boot available at Office Shoes. The chunky 90's inspired boot includes a platform for extra high and intensity.

Wishlist time! I have waiting a while to post this set, partially because BT can't seem to fix my wifi, but also because I think it suits the time of year. The Tory Burch Dominique Sweater has been on my winter wishlist for a while because it's so unique. It's made of solid and foil-printed merino wool which gives the jumper the unqiue shimmery texture, but it's still cosy. The colour makes for a modern way to wear metallics which are always in trend during Christmas and New Year. The textural standout is great for a layering outfit that needs a contrasting element and the darker tones make it ultra-chic. Black jeans are an essential in a wardrobe, for both genders. Like a leather jacket, they're incredibly easy to style and pair well with many other textures as the denim look is often subtle. These YSL Skinny Jeans help the shimmery sweater stand out more and still look classy. The luxurious denim is very versatile and super soft too.
It's often said that black makes you appear much slimmer, but so do heels. The Opening Ceremony Brenda Boots are jet black, made of napper leather and naturally elegant. The round toe edge creates a smooth line in the whole look with hidden elastic for comfort. The ankle boots also have some heel, which elongates your legs, especially when paired with black denim.
