My Desert Island Movies

27 November 2015

The game "Desert Island" is very simple: you're stuck on a desert island for an infinite amount of time. You can only take a handful of items with you, however for today's post, all my items are DVDs.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel Avengers Assemble (or The Avengers) and Avengers: Age of Ultron. If you know me at all, you'll know I'm totally and completely in love with Chris Evans. The infatuation goes hand-in-hand with my obsession over everything Marvel. I knew grew up watching the comics, but I happens to catch the first Avengers film over Christmas in 2013 and have loved every movie ever since. I could easily watch The Winter Solider pretty much every day, Scarlett Johansson is the ultimate girl crush and of course, the films feature plenty of Chris Evans.
Pretty Woman The Princess Diaries 2 Royal Engagement
Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Dirty Dancing and Miss Congeniality. My ideal chick flick movies. The feature ups and downs and the cutest romances. Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing are both the obvious icon choices. Sandra Bullock happens to be yet another one of my girl crushes ever since her days in Speed. Miss Congeniality features her as a complete badass with a feminine touch. The Princess Diaries is a film from my childhood, and it's rare I prefer the sequel to the original. Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway perfectly fit into their roles and the plot is entertaining enough to watch over and over again.
What's Your Number Home Alone Chris Evans movie
Home Alone, What's Your Number?, Blended and The Parent Trap. Home Alone is a movie classic, I still find every slapstick scene hilarious and think the entire movie is perfect. Although I've seen the following films more than one, my favourite remains the original. Now that's we are nearing the end of the year, Home Alone is basically on repeat. What's Your Number is one of my desert island films due to the casting of Chris Evans as a main character. The romantic-comedy plot is hilariously charming, but I can't say no to slice of 2011 Chris Evans. Blended is a new favourite rom-com for me; although it's not to everyone's taste, I really enjoy the film and could easily watch this every day. The popular tweet: "do y'all remember when Lindsay Lohan told Lindsay Lohan that Lindsay Lohan has class and Lindsay Lohan doesn't" is constantly floating around Twitter and The Parent Trap is still an amazing movie, 17 years later. The characters are brilliantly written and some of my favourite actors are cast, making The Parent Trap my ultimate desert island choice.

  5. The Winter Soldier is probably my favourite Marvel film (it may be because that first scene we see The Winter Soldier in the middle of the road and just...holy cinematography!) But yeah, it's a film I could watch again and again!

    So many great films here!
