Check That Cape
23 November 2016

For me, the very best thing about this time of year is being able to layer clothing to my heart’s content. Not only can I wear turtle neck tops without sweating through them, but I can wear capes outdoors without ending up awkwardly carrying them. Life’s sweet!
Passion for Plum

I love this colour! Any chance to wear it I'm totally going to take advantage of and today is the day. I don't do a whole lot of workwear posts on Anika May because I no longer work in an office, and I have no desire to return. Yet, the one thing I do miss is the super chic office outfits! It's one of the reasons I was so drawn to Suits, the women always look so stylish!
Phone Cases Galore!
15 November 2016
Hurray for post number 350! I'm sure you’ve heard me blab on about CaseApp about 100 times. This time last year, I had just discovered the brand, and now I’m obsessed! I like to mix up my phone cases every so often, especially when it comes to a new season. The change gives me something different to look at, rather than the basic iPhone back (even though mine’s pink and I love pink), and motivates me in a weird but wonderful way. Custom designs by me help the cases feel a little more personal too, and I’ve managed to build up quite the collection over the years.
Another Night on the Town

Happy November! Yaaaay! Another OOTD! Or rather, OOTN. As I’ve mentioned in
like a hundred posts, I love to go out. When I first turned eighteen, I didn’t
go near nightclubs, I always thought they were tacky and a little bit
unsanitary. Although my opinion hasn’t changed, I still think going out is a
fun experience. Now that I’m twenty, I still pop into Mission or Prism when I
have the energy, but I also love going for casual drinks. Not all the clubs in
Leeds sell fun cocktails, usually it’s just shots for 50p and a random fizzy
drink ft. vodka. However, there are a few areas in Leeds that are amazing for
dressing up and sitting in a classy establishment, having cocktails that are
called Queen B and The Bazinga.
Back to School

Since leaving school, I haven’t really looked back. Not that
I didn’t enjoy learning about different subjects and increasing my skills but
just the idea of being back in the education system gives me nightmares.
However, sometimes I put outfits together, and just wish I had these items of
clothing while I was in school. Looking back at sixth form, my dress sense was
not… the best. Let’s just say, I got to a point where I didn’t care much for my
appearance (a stage every student goes through) and literally put on the first
scraps of fabric I could find. One day, I actually wore a pyjama top to an
exam.
Today’s outfit totally reminds me of the type of style I
wanted to have in school, super simple and very comfortable. I’m actually not
that big on double denim, but with the two contrasting colours, it works. Denim
jackets were a staple summer piece for me and I think they’re still great for
the first few weeks of autumn. Before it gets too chilly, I definitely think you can get away with the occasional
summer item – even if it means being the biggest (Lizzie McGuire) outfit
repeater.
I never had a rucksack in school. At one point I literally
just carried my ring binders around and hoped for the best – getting on the bus
was a nightmare. I recently bought this backpack from New Look through ASOS and
absolutely love it. They’re so easy to work with! Similarly, these awesome Vans
I picked up from TK Maxx (for only £6) are my new go-to shoe. I love the unique
pattern and I think they brighten up the look without taking all the attention
in the outfit.
For me, one of the most exciting things about autumn, or
fall, is the colours I get to wear. I picked up this thinly knitted jumper from
Matalan and the colour is a must for
autumn. I’m back in my denim jacket from my most-recent OOTD because… well it’s
an awesome jacket. I even wrapped the sleeves from my jumper around the jacket,
for that extra touch of auburn; I really think the two fabrics work well
together.
